ART PARTY: Justice, Liberation & Resilience

Calling all creatives, activists and organizers!

REVOLVE Cowichan is hosting an art party on Sunday, August 20 at The Fort in Duncan. We hope to bring a diverse group of people together to explore what our vision for the future looks like through art. With the artists’ consent, the art will be displayed at REVOLVE’s launch party in September (date and located to be announced) with the purpose of imagining a better world together as a community.

This art party will be an inclusive space, welcoming of everyone. We especially welcome youth, elders, newcomers, Black, Brown, Indigenous Peoples, People of Colour, and 2SLGBTQIA+ people. All art skill and experience levels are welcome! Learn more about REVOLVE: www.revolvecowichan.com/about

This event has a max capacity of 30 people, so please only register if you plan to attend this event. If there is enough interest, we can hold another art party with the same theme. Note: This event is 100% FREE! We have received a small amount of funding to be able to supply a light meal and beverages. The food menu will be determined in August, so we will reach out to participants before the event for dietary restrictions and menu choices!

* This event was made possible through a #SimpleGenerosity Neighbourhood Grant

ART PARTY Theme:

The theme of this art party is: Justice, Liberation, Resilience. Some of the questions to explore in your art could be:

  • What do the words “justice, liberation and resilience” mean to you?

  • What kind of future would you like to see? 5 years, 10 years, 20 years from now?

  • When you close your eyes and imagine community, what do you see?

  • Imagine a time when you overcame a struggle. What did that look and feel like?
